This is a really wonderful "find" for my morning coffee experience. Just grinding the beans, and smelling the wonderful, rich coffee aroma is a treat, and then the finished product is divine. This will be a go-to from now on--so glad Left Coast is carrying it.
On my way back from Newport to Portland, a friend asked if I'd do him the favor of stopping by this little coffee roaster on my way back home to grab him a bag of decaf coffee. Being the incredible, generous, helpful and all around awesome person that I am, I obliged him against the objections of my wife and the 15 additional minutes I'd have to spend driving along the scenic coastal highway 101 on a beautiful, sunny day to get there.
The coffee shop is small, neat, warm and inviting. The owner (I'm assuming he was the owner) was kind, helpful and something of a coffee nerd. He suggested that I try THIS particular roast/bean given my description of coffees that I had enjoyed up until then. So .. without any idea that I was about to change my understanding of coffee forever, I paid for the coffee and drove the rest of the way home.
The next morning ... I had a cup of coffee which changed my understanding of what I had considered 'good coffee' up to that point in my life. This coffee is seriously smooth, mellow, nutty ... there are not words for how delicious this coffee is.
As the beans dwindled over the next several days ... well .. let's just say that my wife, a woman who has known me for 30 years, literally accused me of HIDING the remaining beans from her and got kinda mad about it. I had to explain to her that I took the beans down into my study that morning to grind them so the noise of the grinder would not to wake her and our visiting guest and that I had just forgotten to bring the beans back into the kitchen -- she snatched them out of my hand and put them away in the coffee drawer, closed it and immediately changed the subject (you know that scene in the Fellowship of the Ring where Bilbo sees the ring and he goes all evil looking for a second? ... Not far off. Under the cover of night, she crept out of bed, ground the remaining beans and had the last cup that very evening). We have just received our new shipment this morning ... 5 lbs of caffeinated, marriage saving bliss (I've already scooped out and hidden about 4 cups worth). (Don't judge me!)
Do yourself a favor. PLEASE try this coffee ... and make sure you have plenty of it on hand to save your relationships.
